Finding the right place to live is very crucial. This can be a very daunting process. Below is some tips and advice on why it shouldn't be something holding you back.
Planning to live on your own?
Living on you own can be costly than sharing a house with others. This is however very good if you like your own space. You’re more likely to find such properties through estate agencies. You will normally pay at least a month's deposit and potentially a month’s rent in advance.

Looking to share a house?
Sharing a house can be more economical. If you are looking for house share that is already set up, there are a number of very useful websites where you can search for your specific area and needs, such as costs etc.
These sites include:
- Spare Room
- Gumtree
- Easy Room Mate
Proof of Right to Work - Normally your Passport and/or Visa
Confirmation of Employment - This can be provided by TRaC Education or your school, depending on how you are employed
References - If you are relocating from overseas then you may be asked to provide references from landlords in your home country, although this isn't always required.

• Childcare Disqualification Form (where applicable)
The DBS is a non-departmental public body of the Home Office of the United Kingdom. They look at an individual’s record and scan for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings. As a teacher, it is a legal requirement to obtain a DBS check before entering school grounds.TRaC Education can help you through the process of getting your UK DBS. This can be started before you arrive in the UK. The first step is to get in touch with one of our team and we can talk you through exactly what you need to do to get started.
There are 3 different types of checks available, the one you will need to work in schools is the Enhanced DBS Check.
ENIC (European Network of Information Centres - formerly NARIC) provide information and advice on qualifications. This is where you will be able to obtain a 'Statement of Comparability', which in essence is to show that the qualifications you hold are comparable in the UK.
You require a 'Statement of Comparability' if you are not eligible to apply for Automatic QTS. If you were trained in Ghana, Jamaica, South Africa, or another country that is not in the EEA, then it is that you would require a Statement of Comparability. Also if you are trained elsewhere have not completed any required period of induction to be a fully qualified teacher there.
There are different teacher pay-scales in England. These are; England, fringe of London, outer London, and Inner London. London has slightly higher salaries. This means that your salary could be different depending on where you work, so this is something to consider when selecting your school.
